However, in the latest family meeting held on Wednesday, Cyril told the people to remain calm, but dished out some vital information and warning.

Below are 10 things to note from his speech:

  1. The problem is that we have begun to forget that the virus is still present all around us… Covid-19 pandemic is worsening across the globe.
  2. For more than two months now, the number of new infections has remained relatively stable at below 2,000 a day.
  3. For as long as we observe all the necessary health protocols and remaining restrictions — as individuals, as businesses, as institutions — there should be no need to return to a higher alert level.
  4. International business owners applauded the manner in which South Africa has managed the pandemic.
  5. He urged people to join the 700,000 South Africans who have downloaded the Covid Alert SA mobile app.
  6. SA is collaborating with several multinational pharmaceutical companies to obtain a safe and effective vaccine for our people and is contributing towards the availability of the vaccine in the rest of the continent.
  7. The Special Covid-19 Grant has been extended till January 2021 due to the unemployed and employees affected.
  8. Level 1 restrictions will be amended to allow for normal trade-in liquor as well as international travel restrictions will be lifted in line with preventative measures.
  9. The president acknowledged Women and Children violence as the second pandemic the country is battling, and there will be 16-days activism against it.
  10. From the 25th to 29th of November, the nation will embark on five days of mourning for the victims of Covid-19.

There’s been 742,394 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 20,011 deaths recorded in SA.
